When Founder Jonathan Pey tasted the first barrels of Oakville Cabernet in 2004, he said, “This is textbook Oakville Cab.” The phrase lives on as our winemaking philosophy. Each TEXTBOOK wine expresses the quintessential qualities of the region where its grapes are grown.

Jonathan and Susan Pey’s childhoods split between Europe, and the States kindled their mutual affinity for wine. Years later, their family entrepreneurial venture was born from the desire to bring Italy and France’s life-enriching food and wine culture back home to California.

A reminder of humble beginnings. TEXTBOOK’s initial success resulted from The Peys hand-selling and delivering wine to their first customers out of their family SUV in between soccer practice and parent-teacher conferences.
